Ice Cream, Weddings & Adverts

Hey all,

So week starting 27th May 2013 was an interesting week. It marked the start of our brand new deal 'Wine & Dine for £30.00'. It was mine and marketing manager Alex Bray's job to make sure we publicize the new offer. For more information on this offer visit our web site or call 01484 689003.

Hopefully you will  have seen an advert with the offer in both the Huddersfield Examiner and in the Holme Valley Review. It is always a tight call when it comes to buying advertising space. It is difficult to know just exactly how much impact the advert can have and the value for money you receive?  However on this occasion we decided it was the right time to advertise.

The offer itself, is in my humble opinion (for what it's worth) is very good value for money. Any FIVE dishes of Tapas with a bottle of house wine all for £30.00. Come on now, no washing up, no cooking, great food and bottle of nice wine its got to be worth a shot!

Also this week Head Chef Sean Creamer has been searching for inspiration with his ice-cream flavours. Sean makes all his own ice-cream, completely from scratch. His most recent flavours have been: Vanilla & Marshmallow, Sultanas soaked in Amaretto and Orange Marmalade. All his ice-creams are delicious and they go down an absolute treat in the summer months. It's amazing, the sun has been out less than a week and we've probably sold as much ice cream in a week as we have all month! If you are like me and a bit of a sweet tooth, why not go for chocolate brownie with ice cream...PERFECTION! If you have any ideas for ice cream flavours for Sean please don't hesitate to send your ideas to info@lescaveauxholmfirth.co.uk

Head Chef Sean Creamer's Ice Cream is wonderful!

At the end of the week we hosted a wedding for 40 people. It was a wonderful day and enjoyed by all! The bride and groom looked fabulous and the comments from their guests were very complimentary about our food and service. It was a real pleasure for me to host the wedding and play a part in what will be a day they remember for the rest of their lives. The restaurant looked fantastic and with it being a nice day the views out of the panoramic windows of the restaurant were wonderful.

Festival of Folk 2013

This week sees the annual Folk Festival 2013 come to town. Folk lovers from all over will congress in Holmfirth to see musicians play and eat and drink in to the early hours. The Folk Festival creates a fantastic, vibrant atmosphere throughout the town and its businesses.

At Les Caveaux Folk Festival kicks-off this Friday, when we welcome back Steph Stephenson to the cellar bar to sing live around 9:30pm. Steph Stephenson is a singer, songwriter based in nearby Newmill. This will be Steph's 5th time at Les Caveaux Tapas & Wine Bar.

Steph performs a mixture of her own songs and also some covers. Her tone and style is described as 'a  contemporary take on folk music' and was described earlier this year as: "a real local talent!"

You can follow Steph Stephenson's progress on Twitter : @stephstephenson

On Saturday the Folk Festival gets in to full swing. With parades on the streets of Holmfirth and families and friends filling the streets you will be able to fill your stomach or quench your thirst at Les Caveax. Our BBQ will be fired up, with Morroccan Sausages ready to go in the hope we get some sunshine?! The Cellar Bar will be open from 1pm serving our wide selection of World Beer including our Spanish draught Lager Mahou.

Saturday night is also going to showcase another brilliant, young local talent. 20 year old Stuart Bray will take centre stage from around 9:30pm. Stuart is a singer/guitarist who  is a true entertainer and will undoubtedly have the whole cellar bar singing and dancing to his every word! His style is contemporary 'folky' style, but he will sing covers ranging from the 70's right through to current chart music.

In truth I am really looking forward to Folk Festival 2013 and all that it brings. It promises to be busy and if the atmosphere within the restaurant is even half what it was last year then it will be a quality weekend for each and every customer! I hope to see all of you over the weekend hope you'll join us for a drink or maybe even treat yourself to some of our top quality tapas.
